This policy explains what personal information Quine’s Designs (“we”, “us”) collects when you visit quinesdesigns.com, shop with us or visit our gallery, and how we use it. We are the data controller for this information. If you have any questions, email hello@quinesdesigns.com or write to us at Unit 27, Trinity Centre, 155 Union Street, Aberdeen AB11 6BE.
What we collect
- Order details: your name, billing and delivery address, email, phone number and what you ordered. If you tick “This is a gift”, we note that too.
- Payment details: card and Apple Pay / Google Pay payments are handled by our payment provider (WooPayments, powered by Stripe). We never see or store your full card number.
- Unfinished orders: if you type your email at checkout but don’t complete your order, we keep your email and basket for up to 7 days so we can send you up to two reminders.
- Reviews and messages: anything you send us through our contact form, by email or phone, and any review you post (your name and review are shown publicly).
- Place requests: if you use “Can’t find your place?”, the place you asked for and, if you give it, your email.
- Website usage: technical information such as your IP address, browser and pages visited, collected through cookies and similar technologies (see Cookies below).
How we use it, and why we’re allowed to
- To make and deliver your order, take payment, handle returns and answer your questions. (Needed to fulfil our contract with you.)
- To send service emails: order confirmations and updates, one email after delivery asking for a review, and basket reminders if you didn’t finish an order. (Our legitimate interest in running and improving our shop. Every reminder and review email lets you opt out.)
- To keep records for tax and accounting. (Legal obligation.)
- To keep the website secure and understand how it is used so we can improve it. (Legitimate interest, and your consent where cookies require it.)
- Marketing: we will only send you marketing emails if you have agreed to receive them, and you can unsubscribe at any time.
Who we share it with
We never sell your information. We share it only with companies that help us run the shop, and only what they need:
- our production and fulfilment partners, and delivery companies (Royal Mail and couriers), to make and deliver your order;
- our payment provider (WooPayments / Stripe), to take payment and prevent fraud;
- our website host and security, email-sending and shipping software providers;
- Google, if you allow analytics or advertising cookies;
- our accountants, and authorities where the law requires it.
Some of these providers store data outside the UK (for example in the USA). Where they do, they are covered by UK-approved safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or the UK–US Data Bridge.
How long we keep it
- Order and accounting records: 6 years after the end of the financial year, as UK tax law requires.
- Unfinished-order baskets: deleted after 7 days, or as soon as you order or stop reminders.
- Messages and place requests: up to 2 years.
- Reviews: for as long as they are shown on the site, or until you ask us to remove them.
Cookies
We use cookies that are essential for the shop to work, such as remembering your basket and keeping checkout secure. Our payment provider uses cookies to prevent fraud. If we use analytics or advertising cookies (for example Google Analytics), we will ask for your consent first. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of your information, or ask us to correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, or send it to another company. You can withdraw consent at any time. Email hello@quinesdesigns.com and we will reply within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We’d appreciate the chance to put things right first.
